THE POWER GROUP
TRANSFORMATION FOR THE THIRD CHAKRA

In this very intensive group process we are working towards transformation of our issues of
power, will, control, comparison, competition, worthiness and judgement.

The third chakra is called "Manipura," the diamond-city. It is a fitting name and symbol for the energy of this centre in which the main
theme is power. It is about how we feel powerful or powerless. Its physical location is in the solar plexus. This is the area is where we
store negative emotions especially those that we have not been able to express; and it is the place from which we show ourselves to the
world. It is the seat of the ego, from where we can say “I am.”

When faced with the power issues of the third chakra, people react in one of two ways. Either they go into the positions of being powerful
and controlling or they go into avoidance and collapse, weakness and obedience.

In the third chakra we find ourselves into the duality of being either a tyrant or a victim.

Osho describes this duality to be like the in-breath and out-breath of our astral body. Power is the air that we breathe in and out through
the third. Thus we have these issues of power not only in our emotions and minds, but also in our physical body as tensions, and in the
energy field of our aura. As we become more aware of the rhythm of the third body's breath, we realize it is not possible to stay attached
to only one side; sooner or later a swing to the other side is inevitable. If we can accept this then a transcendental quality can arise and
the positive qualities of the third chakra can emerge.

Dignity and self-respect come about when the Manipura Chakra is relaxed yet still activated. Maturity comes from having lived
through the challenges of the power centre, having learned the lessons and being able to use power in such a relaxed yet alive way that
the energy rises to the higher chakras. Then we see that power can be transformed into love.

We will also work on the hidden aspects of the power issues, how often we do not show our power games directly but hide them from
others and even from ourselves. Judging others is the most common form of hidden power, as is gossiping, spreading negative rumours,
and “stabbing someone from behind.” It is common to see ourselves as the victim of such negative behaviour, but we have to look
honestly at ourselves to see how we do it also to others. The famous expression, “Judge not, lest you will be judged” tells us that if we
receive others judgements it is because we are judging others also!

As with all the workshops in the Transformation for Chakra Energies Series, this group is highly experiential and active on all
levels. Participants are required to be in good physical health and be prepared for an intensive experience, remembering that totality is
the first golden key for transformation. As this is one of the most intense therapy groups available it is recommended only for people
who have previous experience of cathartic methods and meditations.

Osho answers a question on a key third chakra issue:
Just watch one thing, that you are not dominating anybody and that you are not being dominated by anybody. You are a free individual, and
you are as important as anybody…. The professor is important, the plumber is as much important as the professor. It makes no difference what
is your function. What you are doing is not the question. What you are, your being, is the question. So remember two things. Don't try to be in
any power trip on anybody, and then you will be easily capable to see if somebody else is trying to be powerful over you. Avoid both. And that
will give you your integrity and your individuality, and a crystallization that has immense beauty.
